An annual event, now in its 19th edition: this is the Alaskan Malamute Sleddog Day organised by the Club Italiano Razze Nordiche (CIRN), which was staged last late January at Alpe Giumello, above Casargo, a magnificent natural balcony in the Lombard Pre-Alps. This is now a historic event in Alta Valsassina and unique in its kind, which year after year attracts sled dog enthusiasts, families and nature lovers from all over Europe. Combined with the Winter Winner technical meeting, the Alaskan Malamute Sleddog Day is not only a sporting competition but also and above all an opportunity to educate the public on the importance of respecting and caring for animals. The protagonists were the magnificent specimens of Alaskan Malamute, robust and vigorous but also intelligent and loyal dogs who showed all their power and skill in pulling sleds through the snowy landscape of Alpe Giumello. The event offered a series of engaging activities for all ages, from the oldest to the youngest. Dozens and dozens of dogs participated in the rally led by their masters, giving spectators A harmonious and intense spectacle.
The event offered the chance to get up close with Alaskan Malamutes and other dog breeds, with informative sessions held by industry experts on responsible breeding, sled dog training, and animal care. For the younger attendees, there were also interactive activities, such as puppy cuddling sessions, educational workshops on dog behaviour, and agility shows that showcased the versatility and intelligence of working dogs. The stunning winter setting provided a breathtaking backdrop to this historic gathering, offering plenty to enjoy.
