Itinerary to Capanna Vittoria from Indovero (Frazione di Bellano)
The itinerary to Capanna Vittoria offers a fascinating route that starts from Indovero, a hamlet of Bellano, a village that in itself is a picturesque corner of the Valsassina. This route, which combines asphalted stretches and paths surrounded by greenery, offers breathtaking views and allows you to appreciate the tranquillity of the mountains.
Departing from Valsassina, we reach Indovero, where a series of signs guide us onto Via Pomaleccio. Here, a short distance from the hairpin bend, we find the car park (at 895 m), an ideal spot to leave the car and begin our hike. Along the asphalt road, the slope is gentle, and we immediately find ourselves surrounded by houses and meadows. The panorama that accompanies us is already a promise of the natural beauty that we will encounter along the way.
Near the small village, we spot an old shrine with a fresco faded by time, a touch of history that reminds us of the religious tradition of the mountain lands. A little further on, we come across the church of the Madonna del Pomaleccio, a place of serenity dating back to 1760, with the inscription “Ave Maria” standing out above the entrance. Here we also find a small fountain, a sign that the path is animated by the presence of nature and small wonders.
Continuing on our way, we enter a more wooded area and, just outside a hairpin bend, we encounter the beautiful waterfall of the Torrente della Valle della Madonna. The view of the waterfall, with two tables and benches inviting us to take a break, is one of the most impressive stops on the route.
After crossing the bridge over the stream, the road becomes more rustic, but the signs assure us that we are on the right path. Along this stretch, which is part of the Indovero - Intelco - Ortighera - Chiaretto agro-silvo-pastoral road, vehicular traffic is prohibited, leaving the path quiet and undisturbed. The climb is not demanding, and the surrounding forest is rich in beech and chestnut trees, creating a peaceful atmosphere.
As we continue along this mixed asphalt and dirt road, the view of old farmsteads and now abandoned buildings makes us reflect on the rural life that once animated these lands. The structures, some restored, others reduced to ruins, add a romantic and nostalgic touch to our walk. Having reached Alpe Indovero, the possibility of continuing on two alternative routes, one crossing the alpine pasture and the other bypassing it, allows us to choose according to our desire to explore.

As we approach the Capanna Vittoria, the landscape becomes more and more impressive, with the view opening up towards the Legnone. The Capanna Vittoria, which can be reached at 1538 metres, stands out among the green meadows and the quiet of the forest. After a final downhill stretch and a series of small bends, we finally reach the destination of our route. Here we can enjoy a panoramic view encompassing the entire valley and Monte Muggio.
Covering a length of around 6.2 km and an altitude difference of 675 metres, this route offers just the right combination of tranquillity, nature and a touch of history. The variety of the terrain, which changes from asphalt to gravel, and the presence of historic buildings and corners of rare beauty make this hike ideal for those looking for a hike that is not too long but still rewarding.
The time taken, about 2 hours and 15 minutes, is ideal for those who want to spend a day trekking without being too physically demanding, but with the possibility of fully enjoying the panorama and quiet that only the mountains can offer. In particular, the stretch through Alpe Indovero and the view over the valley make this walk truly special, a great way to discover the mountain in all its essence.
ClothingTake along appropriate clothing for a mountain hike, as, although not particularly difficult, the terrain can be slippery in some sections.
Water and snacks: There are few water fountains along the route, so take water and some snacks with you to replenish your energy.
CameraDon't forget your camera! The views along the way, especially near the waterfall and Alpe Indovero, are well worth capturing.
Concluding this hike with a stop at the Capanna Vittoria will be a reward for your eyes and your mind, in a corner of the mountains that never disappoints.
