The Resegone is without a doubt one of the most recognisable symbols of the province of Lecco, a mountain that is not only loved by locals but also attracts hikers from all over. Its characteristic serrated shape has become the emblem of an imposing, yet accessible, mountain. Anyone who approaches the city of Lecco cannot help but notice it, with its distinct profile towering over the entire landscape. Alessandro Manzoni, in the famous opening of The Betrothed, described it as a natural “saw” that marks the boundary between the beauty of the city and the majesty of the mountain. But beyond its literary history, the Resegone is also a beloved destination for trekking enthusiasts, who challenge themselves on its numerous trails every year.
There are several paths that lead to the summit of Resegone, all with their own unique charm and each suited to different types of hikers. Path 1, which starts from the hamlet of Versasio in Lecco, is one of the most frequented, but also one of the longest and most challenging. Path 10, which goes up the Canalone Bobbio, offers a more technical challenge, with some equipped sections, but the real “easy way” to reach the summit remains the one that starts from Morterone, on the eastern side of the mountain. This route is particularly appreciated not only for its beauty but also for its accessibility. Here, then, is a detailed guide to reaching the summit of Resegone from Morterone, a route that can be tackled in both summer and winter (with the appropriate equipment, of course).
